Joni Delivers Again: Ethanol Waivers Get Thrown Out in Major Win for Iowa Farmers, Biofuels Producers

Joni continues getting results for Iowa

Just two days after securing action from the White House to expand access to E15 at the pump, combat veteran Joni Ernst (R-Red Oak) is delivering another major win for Iowa’s farmers and biofuels producers by successfully pushing the EPA to throw out dozens of ethanol waivers.

“From getting rid of the harmful WOTUS rule, to securing E15 year round, to these major wins for biofuels, I’ll always stand up to Washington bureaucrats and deliver results for our farmers and producers,” said Joni Ernst. “Meanwhile, my out-of-touch opponent, Theresa Greenfield, is bankrolled by liberal coastal elites, and favors extreme new environmental rules that would kill American jobs and hurt Iowa farmers.”

This is the second major win Joni secured for Iowa’s farmers and producers in just the last few days. In a phone call on Saturday, Joni personally secured the commitment from President Trump to take action to allow 10% pumps to utilize the sale of E15, increasing demand for ethanol and corn.

Joni, who was born and raised on an Iowa farm, received the endorsement of the Iowa Farm Bureau, the largest grassroots farm organization in Iowa, over her opponent Colby Interests executive Theresa Greenfield (D-Country Club Knolls).

BACKGROUND

The Environmental Protection Agency announced that it would be denying “gap year petitions” for small refinery exceptions. “The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency said Monday it will reject dozens of requests that would allow oil refiners to reduce how much ethanol and biodiesel is blended into the nation’s fuel supply. The agency said the Trump administration “reaffirmed its commitment to support America’s farmers” and is denying petitions for small refinery exemptions for past compliance years.” (Des Moines Register, 9/14/20)

In a phone call Saturday, Joni personally secured the commitment from President Trump to take action to allow 10% pumps to utilize the sale of E15, increasing demand for ethanol and corn. “Saturday morning, President Donald Trump announced via Twitter he’ll allow 10% pumps to utilize E15 blends, a move that he says will help the ethanol industry save money.” (WQAD-TV: President Trump announces new option at the pumps during a phone call with Sen. Joni is endorsed by the Iowa Farm Bureau. “Sen. Joni Ernst earned the endorsement of the Iowa Farm Bureau on Wednesday. Ernst was raised on a Southwest Iowa farm and received the support over Democrat rival and former Colby Interests executive, Theresa Greenfield.” (The Iowa Standard: Iowa Farm Bureau endorses Sen. Ernst, Greenfield continues to cozy up with ‘extreme environmentalists’, 9/10/20)

Joni Ernst is a mother, soldier and a leader who has never stopped fighting for Iowa.

Her liberal opponent is former Colby Interests real-estate executive Ms. Theresa Greenfield.  Ms. Greenfield, who lives in one of Iowa’s wealthiest zip codes, prioritized profits over people when she personally signed paperwork to remove mom and pop businesses for a corporate chain. Ms. Greenfield’s previous attempt at running for Congress ended in failure, with her campaign manager ultimately pleading guilty to election fraud.
